Strategies in Class III Following the Digital Pathway
Class III is a significant orthodontic challenge. Several intervention stages begin from mixed dentition up to orthognathic surgery. Growth pattern modification, consideration of skeletal and occlusal discrepancies, and aesthetic patient expectations should be taken into account. In the digital era of orthodontics, an essential question has arisen: Are TADs establishing a new concept for boderline orthodontics versus surgical treatment? TADs have become a standard tool in orthodontics. Nonreciprocal dental movements and skeletal changes have expanded the borders of orthodontic treatment. The new procedure evolves our ability to avoic surgical intervention and reduces the risk of over-treatment or unsatisfactory occlusion and aesthetics. For that, we should clearly define a borderline case as well.
Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 (8:30 – 17:00):
Digital Ortho-Prostho Planning
Interdisciplinary treatment is an extraordinary opportunity for the future of orthodontics, restorative dentistry and orthognathic surgery. Patients of any age and increasing aesthetic requests have to be handled. The interdisciplinary team should follow a hierarchy of decisions in defining the proper treatment. Defining the adequate position of teeth before resolving the appropriate form brings us to the concept: Position before form. Minimal invasive or no-preparation is an option. We should consider using a different range of restorative materials, from direct composite to injection moulding technique to CAD/CAM or ultra-thin veneers.
